I love your playing, John. How did you get that great guitar sound on your recording of "Sideshow"? (I play a 175)

John,
Qué cosa! You have authored a great looking web presence. Bravo. It's obvious (from the expression of all your internal and externals efforts), that your quest to artistically invent, re-invent, and refine results in a voice that is mastery - and could only come through you, John. You continue to amaze and delight.
Warmest regards for 2012 from Los Angeles,
Marc

I especially enjoy your restrained and tasteful solos, and your enjoyment of a melodic line. A guitarist myself, I am learning much from your CD's. Also, great new website! Gordon

Just listened to your recent interview with Solitaire Miles, another good one. All the points you touched on--as a guitarist myself, I couldn't agree more with you. Continued success. See you in Chicago sometime???

Hi John,
I pulled out your "Frankly Speaking" cd, something you gave me back in the mid-90's when you attended one of our MRI educational courses in the SF bay area, to give to a patient to listen to. I'm now looking at your website...great job!

I heard your interview with Solitaire Miles. Recently I have gone through a change in realizing that "honesty" is best when playing music. Always knew it intellectually, but in actuality never really achieved it consistently. Lately, I feel I'm not only playing better but also connecting with the audience much more than before because i'm playing/being myself. Not someone else. Your comments about ego and humility in regards to playing the guitar were really right on with me. I feel like we are brothers in spirit because of what I'm going through right now and your validation of it. Thanks so much. I will continue to keep in touch with what you're up to. In a nutshell your entire interview with Solitaire was as if you got into my head and articulated everything I now am coming to terms with. Your comments will go along way toward giving me the encouragement -- actually courage to continue to explore what music I have to offer.
Sincerely,
Jerry D. Tiberi

JB,
You left out 1 important step in your article regarding different ways to approach improvisation.........Start with a Big Grease sandwich at BUZZY's in order to establish a proper mood. Glad to see you're still dedicated, Best Wishes, LEO

I like very much Your version of Beautiful Love, a great song that I play a lot of time with my piano.
I remember great performance of this song by Bill Evans.
Your interpretation is very fast and so much harder to play right.
Great Your melodic solo.
I didn't understand what I wanted to achieve personally as a guitarist until I saw the video with you and John (& Sweet and lovely). I guess after all of the years of wanting to glide over changes, I really want to find part of my voice as being the changes. I really appreciate the way you play with and not act as a vehicle for John's soloing. In fact in spite of John being one of my dudes, your playing somewhat distracted my bigoted habit of listening for the solo instrument.
I guess as a virtuoso and educator, you have done your job by forcing me to remove the blinders and dig a little bit deeper.
Thanks.
Now the hole is deep enough to put my guitar in it now.
Your new fan,
Mark

John, the video u did w/John A. saved my life as a jazz player. The idea of using intervals, triads, motif development is rarely ever approached by instructors. The interplay between u and John was unreal. I say u are both from another galaxy, perhaps another planet. Thank you, John, for unknowlingly influencing me all these years.

Thanks John,
Received downloads. Honestly love them. Will get other's w/CD's in future. Tom has always been my favorite trumpet player. We used to hang some out in Boston, W/Tony Muchika (sp.!!) He probably doesn't remember me. But, man, he was sooo good in those days (W/Phil Woods) Not that he isn't ar hasn't been since. Just the most beautiful Jazz Trumpet player in my generaTION OF GUYS. NOBODY REALLY PLAYS like him.
